As in every city, we prefer to travel with the “natives”
The Bus
First, take the bus from the airport into the city
-Buy a Pass, Buy a Week Pass so there are no worries
-At the Curb, obtain a strip ticket for the bus into the city
Which Bus?
-Not the Manhattan Bus (it is a Long Ride) on the streets, north over the Central Park (not a bad scenic tour)
-Take the Queens Bus (I never know which one) take the one that transfers at Astoria Avenue to the Elevated Train into Manhattan over the Queensboro bridge
Once on the elevated train into Manahattan, choose to debark on Central Park South or continue to the Javis’s exposition Center
The Bike (Citibike)
Riding a Bike in a new city is great (if you don’t get killed)
Set Up a Citibike account early,
Don’t do it in a popular, populated area (Central Park South) where it is crowded with (kinda shady) Bike Vendors
The sooner you set-up an account, the sooner you will ride. The longer you put-the-off, the greater the chance of not riding.
Walk
We walk so much in New York City, we should walk slower and enjoy the city
When we are running the marathon, we should walk less
One of the first things we do is walk across Central Park
past the Belvedere Fountain to the East Side
Have a quick New York City Diner Breakfast
The Metro
We take the Metro, up Broadway and walk back
We bike Sunday morning south across the Brooklyn Bridge
Into Wall Street and the Trinity Church
and Bring the Metro back up North
We consider taking the Metro to LGA, but it is really inconvencint , unpredictable and
Life is Too Short
